Stormy Weather

Wow, are we having some awful weather here in old blighty! I watch the news about all the terrible floods and my heart goes out to the people involved. Luckily we don't live near any water at all so we're free from flooding but we're still affected by the storms. The wind has ripped out my favourite fuchsia shrub which I've been cultivating for about eight years. It has gone from being a tiny twig to a prolific, flower laden bush that gets better every year and now it is no more. It was planted in a raised bed which is laid on top of our garden slabs so I guess it didn't have really deep roots but I never expected it to be ripped from the garden entirely! That's my only fatality as everything else is in pots, which we've stacked against the fence for some protection. But we still have to keep picking up the odd tree that's blown over. The only good side of the awful weather is that I don't go out unless it's necessary so I'm getting my crocheting done a bit quicker. I've just finished four hats, an angry birds, two Minnie Mouse and a minions. These character hats seem to be very popular at the moment and not just with kids, the Minnie mouse hats were for adults. And now they are done I've started the baby blankets for my niece and her new addition who is due in two weeks. Just hope I get them finished and sent in time for baby Jake to be wrapped in especially with weather we're having!

Still here!

Well the festivities are over for another year. Is it me or do they come round quicker every year?
When we started our little business I thought that once we had exhausted our family and friends we would slow down, the orders would die off and we'd be back to knitting and crocheting for ourselves. But we seem to keep getting more orders which is so satisfying! I love that people want to own our creations and are happy with them.
In other news, my sister is going to be a grandma again. She'll have two, born within six months of each other. Some years ago when my grandchildren started to arrive, she got very emotional as she thought that she would never achieve this herself. Then suddenly her daughter was getting married and produced a baby in the same year and three years on her son marries and adopts his partners daughter. And now like buses, two are coming together! We're all super excited about our new family additions because everybody loves a baby don't they?
And of course being knitters and crocheters we are having to find a window to make all those baby clothes that each little bubba will need. We may have to work a bit harder but it will be worth it and what a great advert for our goods than our own little models!

Happy New Year!

So another year has passed and gone. Do you find as you get older that they seem to end quicker? Strange isn't it. I guess it's because as we get older we don't look forward to things as much as when we were young. Birthdays, Christmas, holidays all seem to lose their magic once you're kids grow up and they are just days to mark off the calendar with all the others. Don't get me wrong, I still like to celebrate them but they just don't have the same zing as when I was younger.
Am I getting old, yes but that doesn't mean I'm getting boring! I've found other things that give me happiness and contentment. My friends mean much more to me now as does my religion and my knitting and crochet. I have so much more time to indulge in these things. I love having a project on the go, especially crocheting. I like to have something to do whilst watching tv so try to keep something in my bag to work on. That's why I love having our small business, making something for somebody else to enjoy is so pleasurable. The bit of money we earn is nice too but the making of the item is the best. Here's a link to our Facebook page that will give you an idea of what we have been making and what we can make.

So Happy New Year everybody and I hope it's everything you want it to be.
